C&K Kindergarden at Labrador provides pre-school professional child care services. Their duty of care includes protection of children from harmful UV rays. The client required a new area for the children to play which was protected from the sun.

How we met the brief
Square structure with entry height of 3 metres. Shade sail to be attached with stainless steel rigging screws. Padded post covers to be manufactured and installed.
The new play area was achieved by designing a stand alone structure of sufficient size and strength, to cover the playground area. The structure was pre-assembled and lifted into position and then fixed by way of concrete footings into the ground. Padded post covers were manufactured and installed to protect the children when playing. The shade top was made using Rainbow Z16 shade fabric which provides 99% shade and UV block out, and provides a 10 year warranty. All hems were double stitched using tennara thread for strength with a 15 tear warranty. 316 grade stainless steel wire was installed around the perimeter of the sail, and stainless steel rigging screws were used to attach and tension off the sail to the structure.
Results for the Client
The shade structure provided an attractive addition for the kindergarten and at the same time satisfying the owners requirements of providing protection for the children under their care.
